Research Support Network

The Research Support Network for new faculty is a network of individuals who can support and enhance research initiatives of new/junior faculty members at the UBC, and orient new/junior faculty to the processes involved in research in an academic setting.

How to raise funding, recruit and manage graduate students, resolve ethical issues, and all other components of successful research are dealt with by the Network. The program takes a social, philosophical, practical and operational approach depending on the issue involved, and has a long-term objective of creating an environment that will support and enhance all the activities of both new and continuing faculty members.

The Office of the Vice President Research is committed to assisting you with support and information that will enable you to launch your career, and in particular your research career, on a firm footing. The aim is to provide you, the faculty member with a central and complete guide on how to succeed and prosper as a faculty member at UBC.

The UBC Research Support Network has been set up to assist new faculty members to advance as scholars as fast as possible. The purpose of this university-wide program is to give new members of the UBC faculty, an immediate sense of place and of belonging to an institution that cares deeply about their future development as academics. It also provides new faculty members an opportunity to meet colleagues from all parts of UBC, and to interact with them on a regular basis in the development of research. Also there can be no doubt that our granting councils are emphasizing research that crosses disciplinary boundaries and promotes partnerships.
